CONSTRUCTION: The new Locomotive Maintenance Facility, constructed for Kansas City Southern Railway, Knoche Yard, located in Kansas City, Missouri, and owned by GE Transportation Systems in Erie, PA, was designed by Black and Veatch Architects.
This 25,000 square foot facility was completed in November, 2000 by Manning-Prosser Construction Company.
With a construction cost of over $8.5 million, the new locomotive repair facility and wash house will accommodate the repair and maintenance of locomotives for Kansas City Southern.
Manning-Prosser was awarded the ABC Excellence in Construction Award in 2001 for the completion of this important project.
